Thanks for the fantastic reception everyone has given WPVote. 1 week ‘old’ and things are going really well. The feedback last week was amazing, thanks to all who tweeted about it.
Since the launch there have been 109 users sign up and around 20 new articles submitted. There have also been a handful of new features added to the site, and I am sure there will be more in the future.
Some of the more interesting new features include:
- The first thing I did was add a “Recent Posts” page so that you can see the latest articles submitted, previously you just had the small widget in the sidebar to view the last 5 posts submitted
- There is a new “My Posts” option on the menu bar when you’re logged in, which takes you straight to your public profile page
- When you submit a new article you now get a link to the post you have submitted, which is much nicer than having to close the pop up and refresh the page, and then click the newly submitted post. Thanks to WPTavern for the tip.
- There is now an option to get an email notification sent to an email address every time there is a new post submitted.
Additionally, on my personal blog, I wrote about how I created the automated website thumbnails using a service developed by Automattic.
There has also been a handful of people asking me when the site theme will be sold. I’ve considered this in the past, and am thinking it’s likely to happen. I need to spend some time tidying up the code and making sure everything is solid but expect a release later this year (no more specific than that I am afraid).

Hey Ben, I’m enjoying watching the site evolve and grow. Best of luck with the site!
Thanks Artur, I’m enjoying developing it too. It’s nice to do something so different.
I love this site. it’s well designed and executed great. My one question is this – is there a button to use on a blog so people can vote right on the site? I can’t seem to find it, so if it’s here already, I apologize for being button-blind
There isn’t a button for this at the moment, I am not sure how I would code something like this but it would be a cool addition to the theme.
I will think about how it could work – thanks for the suggestion
I will waiting this theme released… I like it…
As I said above, I am not sure when it will happen, but it’s basically guaranteed to happen at some now
What we need next is a wpvote – this widget / function so that we can integrate it within our blog posts. (like the tweet this button.)
I’ve been thinking about that. Not sure how to do this either but I definitely want to give it a go.
I love this site, you’ve done a really great job on it.
